It’s something, but it’s not everything

I had a moment of grace last week, a sea-change in the way I move through the world. While emptying the dishwasher, I caught the edge of a bowl and it broke. I immediately felt a rush of frustration and anger at my clumsiness, but that was immediately swept away by this thought, fully-formed: “It’s something, but it’s not everything.” And it was true.
